FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT

This section has been made to guide and provide you information about Student Loan, Student Loan Consolidation Program, Student Loan Consolidation Services. It covers various types of Loans available, may be it a Federal Student Loan, College Student loan, International Student Loan or Private Student Loan, and information from Student Loan Refinancing to Student Loan Corporation.

FSEOG or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a form of federal financial aid which supplements Pell Grants of the students who have exceptional financial need. FSEOG is a form of gift and unlike federal loans, it is not to be repaid or paid back. Like Pell Grant, it is also eligible for undergraduates and graduates can not apply for FSOEG.

Under FSOEG program, the priority is given to undergraduate students with low Expected Family Contribution ( EFC ) and to those also who receive Federal Pell Grants. Priority is given to full time students. Students who have Bachelor’s degree can not apply for the FSEOG help.

Because of limited available funds, Applicants who apply early for FSEOG have a better chance to receive aid. One should try to send FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Students Aid) in the start of the year. The funds are given on the basis of financial need of a undergraduate student and amount of aid the student is securing from other aids. Unlike Pell Grants, there is no guarantee by US department of Eduction of payment of FSEOG to every eligible student.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant depends on the availability of funds at the school level. Your school can apply Pell Grant funds to your school costs, or it can pay direct to you also, or combine both of these methods. Depending on funding level of school, financial needs of the students and other factors like financial policies, one may be given a grant of amount between $100 and $4000.
