The outcome of such an exercise is a decision which has the potential to solve the problem or to achieve the objective. The same making the decision is adopted in decision implementation. In emotional approach of decision making, analysis takes a back seat and emotions of the decision maker prevail. With the result, a horrible decision emerges which will be best only if there is no limiting factor. But the limiting factor will continue to exist whether the decision maker wishes or not. Many business organizations, once leaders in their fields have become extinct; even if they have not become extinct, they are biting the dust. How many persons can recall the names of Martin Burns, Jessops, Orkay, Metal Box etc. today? Once these companies were leaders in their fields but because of emotional decisions of their chief executives, these have become extinct. Same is the case with people too: ministers, princes, and other prominent persons ruined themselves because of their emotional decisions.
In the process of being successful through excellence, you will be required to make decision after decisions. Therefore, insist on making decisions by using rational approach. Do not let your emotions to decide on your behalf. Use emotional intelligence to manage your emotions so that they do not interfere in your decision making process unnecessarily.
