Education is anther factor which shapes the attitude of people. Education is the understanding and interpretation of knowledge in a particular discipline. It develops a logical and rational mind that can determine relationships among pertinent variables to understand a phenomenon.
Education aims at imparting and developing qualities of mind and character and understanding of basic principles. Ideally speaking, education has four basic objectives – developing knowledge to the discipline concerned, developing skill to apply this knowledge in practice, developing positive attitudes to solve the problems in the field, and developing appropriate value system. About the value system, we shall see in a later chapter; here, we are concerned with attitudes. Education may be both formal and informal. Through formal education, one can get a certificate, diploma, or degree as the case may be. However, the present formal education puut maximum emphasis on knowledge, lesser emphasis on skills, still lesser emphasis on attitudes, and least emphasis on value system. This is just not happening in India only but this is happening in other countries too.
