For a person who has confidence in himself, there is nothing impossible in his field. Napoleon Bonaparte and used to say, “Impossible word does not exist in his dictionary.” It shows great confidence in himself. Therefore, if you want to excel others, you have to develop this kind of confidence; you have to increase your level of self esteem. However, you have to apply one caution: do not become over confident; your confidence should match your capability. To increase your capability, you have to know yourself more and more as discussed in previous pages.

The process of developing high esteem can be quickened if you go on continuous learning and putting that learning into practice. For effective learning, there must be a cue or set of cues that stimulates one’s behavior. Cue is any object or event in the environment with which a person interacts and draws conclusions. These conclusions then become part of the person’s behavior including the development of high self esteem. Since a person can draw conclusions from different types of cues, he uses a variety of cues. This is true for you too.
