For this purpose, you can proceed in the following way:

Collect information about CSFs of a field from those who are successful in the field. Based on their long work experience information and judgement, they will be better able to let you know something meaningful.

Read success and failure stories in the field concerned and derive your own conclusions. Reading of failure stories is as important as reading of success stories because that help in taking adequate safeguard in closing the doors for failure. This is based on the maxim: The scars of others should teach us caution. After collecting information from various sources, analyze this in order to identify the CSFs of the field concerned. If you are considering more than one field, repeat the same exercise for other fields.
