Even the most energetic and original mind must have attained more than ordinary mastery in his field in order to recognize or extend insight in any valuable way.
Take some examples.
In cricket, a swing bowler can work on reverse swing only when he has some kind of mastery over swing bowling.
In music, a musician can work on a new tune only when he has some kind of mastery over conventional tunes.
In the same way, you can work for a new idea only when you are well conversant with your field. Therefore, you must become thoroughly familiar with the problem itself, its history, its importance and its relationship with various aspects of work setting. This will provide you an insight in identifying the problem in true sense and you can think of an idea which is capable of solving the problem.
