Success Means

SUCCESS REDIFINED:

Success Means a real meaningful, and long-lasting achievement. Thus success is an achievement which is distinct, socially relevant, and personally gratifying. If you take away any of these features, the success does not remain real, meaningful, and long-lasting. Let us elaborate these three features.

Distinct

Often, we find that someone has passed his examination with distinction. Here, the concept of distinction is scoring marks at or above a cut-off point. To a very great extent, this concept is applied in success being distinct implying that the success is quite different from vast majority of population; it is unique in some way. This means of success is like winning a war and not just a few battles. In winning a war, it is quite possible that a few battles may be lost in the process but the ultimate winner is one who has won the war even though losing a few battles.

For yourself, you can define distinct success like this. Achieve something by your efforts about which people say, “You cannot do that.” Achieve something about which people say, “Wow, you have achieved this.” Being ‘also ran’ is not a distinct success.
