WHAT INDIAN COMPANIES LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE?

A noticeable feature in the present-day employment scenario is that most of the employing organizations are putting more emphasis on behavioral qualities on their prospective employees as compared to technical qualitie.
These organizations have a feeling that people can be made to learn, their skills can be developed but their behavioral qualities like inner drive, attitudes, values etc. cannot be changed or developed unless these people are eager to change/develop their behavioral qualities.

Therefore, hire only those people who have commensurate behavioral qualities. However, various organizations are not alike in terms of behavioral requirements. Here, examples of three Indian companies have been given to show what type of candidates they look for employment. These companies are Reliance Industries Limited, Hindustan Unilever Limited, and Infosys technologies Limited. Also check qualities of technical person.

 

EXAMPLES OF A FEW INDIAN COMPANIES

Reliance Industries Limited: It is the number one company in Indian private sector; a highly vertically integrated petrochemical company with highly automated production processes. It has achieved phenomenal growth over the period of time. It looks for people who have high capacities for entrepreneurship, risk taking, innovation, and will to win.

Hindustan Unilever Limited: It is the top fast-moving consumer goods company of India; originally of foreign base and subsequently converted into an Indian company. It looks for people who are highly competent and professional, highly competitive yet loyal, and decent executives with high ethical standards. It emphasizes professionalism, convent school educated, sharp dressing, good debating skills, and clubbing ability.

Infosys Technologies Limited: It is highly-respected computer Software Company. It emphasizes hiring people who find the company’s middle-class values satisfying. These are the people brought up in traditional homes but have superior academic records, technical skills, ingrained capacity for hard work, willingness to work, and high degree of learning ability. It avoids selecting people who are overly ambitious and competitive who tend to both create and thrive amid internal competition.
