A Green Card is also known as Permanent Resident Card. It allows foreigners who have registered with and been fingerprinted by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to obtain US immigration to live and work in United States. Green Card is a proof of being a permanent resident of USA.US Green Card is an essential evidence of a person enjoying a status of pemanent citizen in US. Green card by Marriage falls under the immediate Relative Category. Under immigration Law, Immediate Relatives include spouse of US Citizens, along with their unmarried children (under 21 years of age) and Parents. Immediate Relatives are excluded from all quota limitations which means there are unlimited number of green cards available for Foreign Resident who do marriage with US Citizens. A Foreign National can obtain K-1 Fiancee/Fiance Visa so the foreign national can come to United States for marriage with the US citizen. To petition for a green card for your foreign national spouse, your relationship with him/her should be duly established. A petition can’t be filed for a spouse until the marriage ceremony has taken place. To apply for a green card, the US citizen has to file a immigrant visa petition, with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and US immigration Services ( USCIS ). These organizations also keep a check on Green Card Marriage Fraud. If petition filed by US citizen is pending, his/her foreign national spouse can apply for K-3 visa which will enable him/her to live and work in US.
