Women Empowerment

Today’s women not only act as the role of the home-makers but also working as professionals. The task of multitasking is done perfectly by them. Women emancipation has given a new lease of life to the women of this country. The glass ceiling has been broken; they can work in those domains that are always considered as the men’s territory. Now, the profession / vocation has become unisex; they juggle very well between the work and home front. Meeting the tight deadlines is the order of the day; women are the only beings who are capable of giving hundred percent to whatever they do. The earlier notion of them being homemaker has been dismantled and how.

The times we are living in is the best time to be a women. Women are getting equal footing vis-à-vis men; they are independent in taking their own decision; they can walk out from a bad marriage without a tinge of social ridicule. They are no longer ostracized, subservient and dependent. Women are like free birds. But, also on the other hand we encounter women who are battered, thrashed, were made to work like a sheep without batting an eye-lid. The number of female infanticide and feticides has ever been on rise.

The states like Punjab and Haryana are the examples of it. Women illiteracy is an all time high in the remote villages of India. The gap between metropolitan cities and villages are humungous. The atrocities inflicted on women are not only related to child abuse, rape, subjugation in every aspect, but the problem is much deeper, though the Government has taken active steps by introducing path-breaking laws for restoration of rights of women. The latest judgment of Supreme Court on rape victim’s case has been a precedent for the future where a women who has been raped, was a victim is not necessary to get married to the accused, but even if she has married the accused won’t get the bail for the heinous crime he has committed.

The Indian society is drenched in this malice but with changing times the condition of women has been changing, and that change indeed is a step towards a better future.

Change is the only constant, with changing times the society is changing for the better, women are the hope for this country, there would be a time where women would be standing in equal stead vis-à-vis their male counterparts and than the actual progress of our country will begin.
