Some Travel Agents also work as general service agents for foreign travel companies in different countries. The main function of a Travel Agent is to sell travel products and services on behalf of a Travel Agency. Like other professionals, a Travel Agent need not keep a stock in hand.

He purchases the package holiday or a ticket from the supplier only when the customer requests that purchase. The Travel Agent charges commission on that holiday or ticket. The profit is therefore the commission which is the difference between the advertised price which the customer pays and the discount price at which it is supplied to the agent. Generally a Travel Agent would consider a 10-12% commission as a good business.

In this scenario of globalization and technological advancement, the home based Travel Agent Jobs are very good option for beginners. A training from a school or an institute of repute in travel, tourism or ticketing is an added advantage. Becoming independent in life without a group is easy like this.
