| PASSPORT If you are planning to be a Flight Attendant, you should have a valid passport. This is most important document. Few airlines even specify in their advertisement that you need to have a valid passport (normally with minimum of one year validity). Apply your passport in advance as it takes months to get it. Please note you may be rejected for want of a passport, may be you perform well. SWIMMING Most of the airlines fly over sea. So to avoid any unforeseen happening they need flight attendants knowing swimming well. So you should be knowing the swimming. If you are comfortable enough in water and you can float will not serve the purpose. Majority of airlines take swimming test in the flight attendant interviews. So you should be confident enough that you can easily swim a few length of the pool before you mention in your resume to be a flight attendant that you know swimming. HEIGHT The minimum height for a female flight attendant is 5’2” and a male flight attendant is 5’7’. The height is the one of major criteria for flight attendant jobs. Majority of airlines while recruiting flight attendants check height in the first round of flight attendant interview. Don’t mention wrong height in the resume while applying for flight attendant jobs. WEIGHT The weight of a flight attendant should be in proportion to his height. While applying for flight attendant jobs do not mention wrong weight. Ultimately in the flight attendant interviews, the weight will be checked and you will loose a chance to go in flight attendant career. If you need to loose or gain your weight, start doing it now. EYESIGHT The eyesight of a flight attendant aspirant should be normal. Some of airlines accept corrected vision with contact lens of a flight attendant aspirant. Like swimming, to be comfortable with contact lens requires practice and time. If you are serious for flight attendant career, you should get your eye sight checked and if need is shift to contact lens. TEETH It does not cost anything to be cheerful. But to be cheerful you need to have a charming smile. And for a charming smile white and even teeth are must. Most airlines are particular about flight attendants having a good set of teeth. If you have a crooked teeth, teeth that overlap, or gaps in your teeth, you are advised to consult your dentist now to start working on it. Getting braces and straightening your teeth is a long process. Start now. AGE All airlines have different age requirements. Generally airlines in India need applicants between 18 – 27 years of age. European Airlines normally make the age limit 35 years, while American Airlines do not have age limits. EDUCATION High school graduate certificate means 12 years of schooling is the minimum education required to be a flight attendant. Some of airlines do ask for graduates. The education can be in any stream. WORK EXPERIENCE Work experience anywhere related to customer service is an added advantage. Do find an interim job in a hotel, travel agency or ground job at an airport. Do mention in your resume if you are having any such experience. Even if you assisted your family or a friend in his business, this can also be mentioned in the resume. LANGUAGE Airlines recruiting from a country want the candidates to know their language as well as English language. Knowledge of any foreign language is not essentially a requirement to apply for flight attendant job.
